European SharePoint Conference 2018

The European SharePoint, Office 365 & Azure Conference 2018 (ESPC18) is just around the corner. Its Europe's largest conference of its kind, attracting IT professionals of all levels from around the world. The Microsoft Product team and leadership are in attendance so you will get all the latest information first hand. If you work with SharePoint like us, it's a must attend event!  With over 150 sessions there is something for everyone to discover.

Here's our top picks of sessions to attend this year:

Chief Technology Officer, Cameron Dwyer:

An A-Z of Azure Functions (Chris O'Brien)

"Azure functions are just so damn useful today and are one of the most convenient tools to have in your developer toolbox. Chris writes some of the best documentation around the processes of developing code and application lifecycle management (ALM). I think the ALM and DevOps story around Azure Functions is where a lot of people have questions and wonder whether Azure Functions can be developed, scaled and governed in similar ways to conventional development projects. While not the focus of Chris' session his knowledge and experience in this area make it a must attend session for me."

SharePoint Content Services (ECM): What's New and What's Coming (Chris McNulty)

"There was a huge number of announcements that came out at Microsoft Ignite in the area of SharePoint Content Services. For me this is the area that made SharePoint what it is today - lists, libraries, columns, content types, document sets, managed metadata. These were the fundamental building blocks that allowed solutions to be crafted on top of SharePoint. In recent years we've seen the gradual movement from SharePoint Classic pages to Modern, but along the way Modern has missed a lot of those core building block capabilities. Finally we are seeing some real progress in this area and I'll be looking for updated timelines on when we can expect some of these features to start rolling out."

Modern SharePoint and SPFx Branding with Office UI Fabric and Site Designs (Eric Overfield)

"Site design and branding has been an area of SharePoint that has undergone some radical changes in recent times and is also one of the primary things that people attempt to do when implementing SharePoint. This is still a developing area with lots of new announcements coming out of Microsoft Ignite and I expect to hear updated timelines and more complete demos and guidance during this session."

Product Manager, Colin Wood:

Microsoft Graph: The Road Ahead (Darrel Miller)

"The Microsoft Graph API is the endpoint for Office 365 and allows you to access all your Office 365 data through one API. While SharePoint, Exchange and OneDrive have their own dedicated API's the need to use them is reducing all the time as the Microsoft Graph API reaches parity. While the SharePoint aspects of the Microsoft Graph has been lacking in many areas, hopefully these gaps will be filled so developers can use one API, streamlining their development efforts and allowing new opportunities. I am hoping Darrel's session has exciting announcements in this space, as well as the plans for the Microsoft Teams Graph API as this area has a lot of room for growth going forward."

What's New and Coming to Microsoft OneDrive (Omar Shahine, Aaron Rimmer)

"OneDrive has undergone significant investment from Microsoft in recent times with an unprecedented rate of change. With apps on mobile devices and across the desktop clients it's an exciting area of opportunity for customers to streamline their business processes and promote greater collaboration within and external to their organization. With announcements recently such as SharePoint 2019 support and Files on demand for the Mac, there will be more than enough in this session to keep you excited and allow you to plan into the future."

PnP PowerShell for both IT Professionals and Developers (Erwin Van Huen)

"PnP PowerShell is incredibly powerful in provisioning SharePoint artefacts whether it be sites, lists, libraries, site columns and many others. In fact at OnePlace Solutions we have a GitHub repo that we provide our customers with PnP PowerShell scripts to automate the provisioning of SharePoint columns and sites that our software utilize. This session will be incredibly useful for either IT pros or developers looking to automate the provisioning of e.g. Team Sites, Project Sites and all that goes with them to take the pain out of manual setup and configuration. This allows you to adopt a standards approach to site design and structure and when things need to change you just change the provisioning script."

OnePlace Solutions is committed to enabling people in business to do more, simply. We are looking forward to connecting with IT professionals and working with them to address their productivity challenges. Swing by our booth (#55) and meet our team who can show you how to implement  enhanced connection of Microsoft Outlook with Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft Teams for more intelligent information management within your business.

Our Chief Technology Officer, Cameron Dwyer and Product Manager, Colin Wood will be in attendance so it's a great opportunity to learn about our roadmap and to share your ideas about what we can do to create even better software to meet your business's needs.

Visit us on our booth where we will be doing demos of our new OnePlaceMail App that enables users to save emails and attachments quickly to a SharePoint library, or Teams Channel with the option to notify the channel of actions required. We will also be giving away old school hacky sacks and you can go in the draw to win an Xbox!

How to improve email communication through OnePlaceMail’s email tracking service

Email communication is still one of the most widely used tools in business, with 86 percent of professionals preferring it over other methods, such as instant messaging (IM) platforms and voice and video conferencing tools. Projected figures anticipated that the total daily email traffic—sent and received—would grow to a staggering 347 billion by the end of 2023. However, this ubiquity introduces significant challenges, particularly in maintaining compliance and managing critical business information.
